Driveway Mishapp

Yesterday as I was on my way home from the school with Mac, DH called and said something was going on with the mainline @ our other farm (where we are building). He said something about a "geyser"- which is NEVER a good thing! So I just told him I would see him when he got home. About 1 1/2 hours later he came in talking to the Thompson Pump, our irrigation company. The last thing I heard was, "ok, so you're gonna bill it to them, right?" I was puzzled by this, so I waited for the explanation. DH gets off the phone and said that a septic service truck was hauling bootie down our driveway and lost control and crashed his truck into one of our fields, running over the mainline- breaking it, causing a "geyser" about the size of Old Faithful along our driveway and into our wheat field. Thank goodness our nephew Tyler was driving by our farm and spotted it and called Wayne. It turns out the builders called this septic company and sent them to deliver a porta-potty for the workers. Not sure why they called this certain company...they had to come all the way from Bend. It is a little over an hour's drive each way! After he dropped it off he was heading down the driveway, on his cell phone, driving too fast, in a vehicle that has poor stearing due to being "top heavy" from the HUGE TANK OF RAW SEWAGE it pumps :(-; so basically not paying attention and his front tire went off the gravel and pulled him off the driveway. He is SO LUCKY that he did not take out our BRAND NEW power poles (costing us $15K), take out the wheel line and mover (value=$5K) that were running, and that he DID NOT (thank you Jesus) break his tank carrying the RAW SEWAGE! DH and the hired man got over there to find this mess. Thankfully Roberto (hired man) got to the pond quickly and shut off the water before it washed away too much of our crop and our NEW driveway (which has already cost us over $5K and we aren't done yet). The tractors were all over there, so Wayne had to yank the guy out. He was pretty stuck since the water spewed all over the place until it was shut off, making it very muddy! That took a while I guess. Anyway, the above pics are what happened. It's costing the company between $500-$700 to fix. The parts were supposed to be here by this afternoon, but did not show up. DH is NOT HAPPY as it is HOT here and the wheat is at crucial point- needing the water! Oh, well. Maybe tomorrow! Hopefully! Especially since the price of wheat is at the highest it has been in YEARS!!!
