Happy Easter
Ok. Just got done watching An Easter Carol. It was needed after Mac's comment about Easter Eggs and looking for them at church. DH was a little irritated and asked her what Easter was all about. She said, "It was when Jesus died." Close, phew! He told her actually that was Good Friday and Easter was the day He rose from the dead. So, thought watching the DVD would be a good refresher for the day; especially since we get to go to Catholic Mass. Nothing is ever directed at kids or their level of understanding! And, no Sunday school- what's up with that? Just wanted to get that off my chest before my day gets going. Need to run...have to paint Mac's toe nails, since she is wearing sandals!

Hi Mandy! I just followed the link from your comment on my blog, re:Norm the Gnome. :)
What a cool blog you have! I'm bookmarking it to read regularly.
Wanted to let you know about 'no Sunday school' as you said in this entry. Catholics have religious education classes for kids once a week, but it is never held at the same time as Mass, because then the kids would miss out on Mass, which is for all Catholics of every age.
Farming is very prevalent in our area. Cotton, corn, maize and sorgham are the main crops.
Hi Wanda! The post left on your blog was left by my aunt. She was doing some maintenance on my blog for me, and was still signed in under my name; I guess she forgot- but that is ok.
Anyhow...Yes, I am all too familiar with the way Catholocism works. I am married to a Catholic, and did so in a Catholic Ceremony. However, I am not Catholic. My daughter and I normally attend church separately from my husband. I have differing opinions about how the Catholic Church handles certain things- and Sunday school is one of them. My one comment about having CCD during the week instead of on Sunday- many families (mine included as we are full time farmers and do not come into the house until 7-8 pm)are too busy to incorporate yet another trip into town (which is 10 miles each way for us)when it seems to me that this could be done on Saturday night or Sunday morning. There could be Sunday school classes before church starts, and then yes, the children could sit through the mass (service) with mom and dad. This doesn't seem at all unusual to me. I have seen it done that way, as well as having the children in Sunday school while the service is going on. In DH's church, the priest is from Africa and he has a terrible accent. As an adult, I have a difficult time understanding him. When daughter starts fidgiting during serive I attempt to keep her busy drawing, etc. However aftere church is over, she says she doesn't like going to Catholic service because she doesn't understand anything the priest says. So this leaves me feeling that she is getting nothing from the mass. Thus, my hesitation to go to Catholic Mass. At least if CCD was before mass, there would be a teacher she could understand, and I feel she would get more out of it, than mass alone.
